Frequently Asked Questions

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

If you are a returning client, please arrive 5–10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This ensures I have enough time to complete a brief intake of your symptoms and needs before your session begins. Arriving early helps me to stay on schedule and provides you with the best care possible.

If you are new client and this is your first time, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows ample time for completing any necessary paperwork, reviewing your health history, and discussing your current concerns before your session starts.

Where should I park?

Parking is located on the “second floor” with direct access to Suite 231 (no stairs). Turn onto Miles Ave, and the parking lot is located on the right. Walk through the entrance doors and turn immediately left. The office is the first door on the right.

If you park in the lot for “Fab Salon”, enter into the Riverside Plaza building on the far left of the lot, take the stairs one floor up, turn right, go straight, and enter into the lobby space featuring Suite 231, first door on the right.

Where will my session take place?

Your massage or bodywork session will be held in a quiet, warm, and relaxing room. Soft music may be played to help you unwind. You’ll lie on a specially designed massage table that ensures your comfort throughout the session.

Do I have to be completely undressed?

Not at all. While many massage techniques are performed with the client unclothed, you should undress only to your level of comfort. You’ll be properly draped with a sheet or towel throughout the session, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered.

Will the therapist be in the room while I undress?

No. Your therapist will step out of the room while you undress, get settled on the table, and cover yourself. They’ll knock before re-entering to ensure you’re ready.

Will I be covered during the massage?

Yes. You’ll be covered at all times except for the specific area being worked on. This ensures your comfort and privacy throughout your session.

What areas of my body will be massaged?

A standard full-body massage may include the back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. If you have any preferences or areas you'd like to avoid, just let your therapist know.

What does a massage feel like?

A Swedish massage—one of the most common types—begins with broad, gentle strokes to help you relax. As your muscles begin to loosen, the therapist may use deeper pressure on specific areas of tension. Light oil or lotion is typically used to reduce friction and keep your skin hydrated. Always speak up if something feels uncomfortable—a massage should never be painful.

Are there different types of massage and bodywork?

Yes! There are many techniques, including gentle strokes, deep tissue work, pressure point therapy, movement re-education, and more. Your therapist can recommend the best approach based on your goals and needs.

What should I do during the session?

Just relax and breathe. Feel free to close your eyes and enjoy the experience. Your therapist may guide you with gentle instructions if needed (like lifting an arm or turning over). Always communicate if you’d like more or less pressure, a change in temperature, or if you have questions. I welcome polite conversation during body work, however, know that if my awareness is with speaking with you, my intention of "speaking with" your tissues may be hindered.

How will I feel afterward?

Most people feel deeply relaxed and experience reduced pain or tension. You might feel a little drowsy at first, followed by a boost in energy, clarity, and mood that can last for days.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?

Massage can relieve chronic pain, improve circulation and flexibility, reduce stress and fatigue, support faster recovery from injuries, and promote better sleep and posture. It’s also known to help lower blood pressure and boost overall wellness.

Are there any health reasons I shouldn’t get a massage?

In some cases, yes. It’s important to inform your therapist of any medical conditions or medications before your session. If you’re under a doctor’s care, a written recommendation may be necessary. Your safety and well-being are always the top priority.

What should I do after my massage session?

Take it easy! Give your body time to absorb the benefits of the massage. Rest, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activity for the remainder of the day if possible.

Why is drinking water after a massage important?

Massage stimulates circulation and helps release toxins from the muscles. Drinking water helps flush out those toxins, supports hydration, and can reduce any soreness you might feel afterward.

Is it normal to feel sore after a massage?

Yes, especially if you had deep tissue or therapeutic work. You might feel sore—like after a workout—for a day or two. This is your body’s natural response to the release of tension and muscle manipulation. Gentle stretching, hydration, and a warm bath can help ease the soreness.

Can I exercise after my massage?

It's best to wait at least 12–24 hours before engaging in intense physical activity. Your body needs time to recover and recalibrate after the session. Light movement, like walking or stretching, is usually fine.

Should I take a shower right after my massage?

You can, but it’s a good idea to wait an hour or two if you can. This allows the oils or lotions used during your massage to continue nourishing your skin. A warm (not hot) shower or Epsom salt bath later in the day can help enhance the benefits.

How often should I get a massage?

It depends on your needs and goals. For general wellness and stress relief, once or twice a month is a great routine. If you're working through chronic pain, injury recovery, or high stress levels, your therapist may recommend more frequent sessions.

Can I go back to work or run errands after my session?

Yes, but try to allow yourself a little downtime if possible. Your body may feel relaxed and even a bit sleepy. If you need to return to daily activities, take it slow and stay hydrated.

Is it okay to eat after a massage?

Absolutely, but opt for something light and nourishing. Your digestion may be more sensitive immediately after a session, so avoid heavy or greasy meals.

How can I make the benefits of my massage last longer?
  1. Stay hydrated
  2. Stretch regularly
  3. Maintain a healthy posture
  4. Schedule regular massages
  5. Manage stress through rest, mindfulness, or gentle exercise like yoga

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I do not accept traditional health insurance. However, I do accept car accident (auto injury) and workers' compensation claims with proper documentation. If you're seeking reimbursement through your insurance provider, I’m happy to provide a detailed receipt (superbill) for your session.

What if I feel emotional or tired after the session?

It’s completely normal. Massage can release not just physical tension but also stored emotional stress. If you feel unusually emotional, tired, or introspective, honor those feelings and take it as a sign your body and mind are processing and healing.

What is the Cancellation & Late Arrival Policy?

Cancellation & Late Arrival Policy

I understand that life is unpredictable, and emergencies or unexpected situations can happen. If you experience a true emergency or unavoidable issue, you will not be charged—your well-being always comes first. However, in fairness to all clients, I kindly ask that you provide documentation if requested.

To ensure I can serve everyone effectively and respectfully, the following policies are in place:

Cancellation Policy

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows me to offer the time slot to another client.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a $40 late cancellation fee.

No-shows will be charged the full session rate.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive late for your appointment, your session will still end at the scheduled time to avoid impacting other clients’ appointments.

If there’s still enough time to begin a massage, we will proceed with the remaining time.

The full session fee still applies, regardless of the adjusted duration.

Please be mindful of your appointment time and plan accordingly. Your punctuality and consideration are greatly appreciated and help create a peaceful experience for all.
